The Magic of a Seasonal Bucket List

A seasonal bucket list is an amazing way to romanticize the change of seasons..

..and soak up all that each one brings. At the end of each season, the kiddos and I get together to decide what we want the next phase to look like. From that, we create our bucket list.

I like to take it a step further by posting the bucket list on a large piece of butcher paper and hanging it on the wall. We commemorate each completed item by attaching a picture we took during the activity.

We rarely complete everything on the list, and that’s okay. It’s a bucket list, not a to-do list. Time is always short, and in the busy world we live in, the bucket list helps us be mindful with our time. Having the list posted with pictures also serves as a reminder of all the memories we’ve created. At the end of each season, it’s nice to look back on what we accomplished.

In addition to my family bucket list, I also like to create a mini version for myself and my friends, capturing all I want to experience as an individual. It’s hard to articulate exactly how this simple activity has improved my mental health and the quality of our family time, but the change is undeniable. There is just something magical about shared dreams, visual reminders of what to look forward to, and the joys we’ve already completed.

I highly recommend you give it a try, whether it’s taped to your wall, saved in your phone, or written in your journal. Take time to pause, ponder, and plan for a beautiful season.

In case you need some inspiration for your fall bucket list, here are a few I’ve created, below.
